This painting is about the rich, colorful sunsets you see at the Grand Canyon. Exploring the bright saturated clouds using colors almost straight from the tube is an exercise in the dramatic. The next thing to notice is the white light just above the dark canyon wall with its rose-colored highlights. As the light slips away, this is the place where the day will end and “Colors Retreat”.
